A Bit About the Book
The book tells the story of a man Jean, who was born in Saint Louis du Nord, Haiti. He is ingennuous and beats death at its own game many times in his life. If there is a problem that Jean cannot solve with his own resourcefulness, he looks to God.
This book treats many thought provoking questions. Can Christianity coesxist with the occult? Is Christianity relevant? Is the occult relevant? Is Catholicism relevant? Is Protestantism relevant? Can protestantism coexist with Catholicism?
There is a theme that is very interesting throughout the book. Can a godly man make it anywhere? Can he make it even in the theird world? The protagonist, Jean, was born in Haïti and grows up seeking God and makes it as a radio host. He is a Christian Catholic. His wife used to be a Baptist Christian. This book is both mysterious and beautifully crafted. After many struggles, Jean becomes prosperous. He becomes succesful and sends his son, Jean-Pascal, to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to study.
